Give a Million

Help us get 1 million books to kids in need this holiday season.

Multiply Your Impact with Alane Adams

Award-winning author and literacy advocate, Alane Adams, is helping us reach our goal of 1 million books to kids in need this holiday season. On December 27, Alane will generously match donations up to $50,000 – multiplying the impact of every dollar given.

Donating on a match day is a win-win for children across the US who may not receive any other gift this year. Your tax-deductible contribution today helps us fulfill educator book wishes to give every child a book this holiday season. Hurry! The match ends on December 31st at 11:59PM.

60% of Underserved Children Don’t Have a Single Book in Their Home

“First Book means family to me.” For educators like Ro Menendez, your support means so much to her and the kids she serves. All year long, your generosity allows Ro, and over 550,000 educators like her, to provide the books, resources, toys, tools, and supplies kids need to learn, grow, and imagine.

First Book’s #GiveAMillion campaign begins November 1 with the ambitious goal of getting 1 million books to kids in need by the end of the year. Helps us give the gift of books this season.

How it Works

Every year, First Book works with donors, partners, and organizations to give back to the community and bring books to children in need during the holiday season. For many of the children we serve, the book received during Give a Million may be their first book or the only gift they will receive.

Give a Million officially begins November 1 and ends at midnight on December 31. Throughout the campaign, we will alert all donors, followers, and fans about the special match days where every dollar donated will be matched by a generous partner.

Help First Book deliver a million books to children in low-income communities this holiday season.

For many kids, it will be the first book they have ever owned or the only gift they will receive during the holidays. The sense of self-esteem that comes, and the fact that it also furthers their academic possibilities, make the gift of a book invaluable.
