Washington Commanders

Since 2024, First Book and the Washington Commanders have partnered to bring books and resources to children and educators across the Washington, D.C. Metro Area. First Book is honored to be the primary nonprofit partner for Commanders Read, a literacy program for 4th and 5th grade students that provides fun incentives to get kids excited about reading. The Washington Commanders proudly host the Tailgate for Teachers event, a special celebration dedicated to recognizing and honoring local educators in the First Book Network. This unique event takes place at a Commanders home game, providing a memorable experience for teachers who make a significant impact in our community. We greatly appreciate the Commander’s commitment to supporting educators and students in our hometown community.
