First Book Wins Big on Celebrity Family Feud

We asked 100 educators where the best place to get books, supplies and free resources for the school year was and… Survey says the First Book Marketplace was the number one answer! On August 7^th, Celebrity Family Feud was a big win for First Book! Team Bachelor Nation went up against Team Bachelor Squad on Celebrity Family Feud, broadcasted on ABC and hosted by Steve Harvey, to see who would win the most money for their respective charities. Team Bachelor Squad included Becca Kufrin, Thomas Jacobs, Kenny Braasch, Mari Pepin, and Mike Johnson, who played for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. In the end, Team Bachelor Nation won, earning $25,000 for First Book! Huge thanks to Team Bachelor Nation – teacher Michelle Young, Babatunde (Nayte) Olukoya, Joe Amabile, Serena Pitt, and Rodney Matthews – for selecting First Book as your charity of choice! 

What This Donation Means 

We are incredibly grateful for the entire team’s choice to support First Book! Donations to First Book help to support our mission to bring more books and supplies to our Network of educators and the children they serve. Team Bachelor Nation and Celebrity Family Feud’s donation is helping us transform the lives of children in need by elevating the quality of their education and helping us to provide brand-new, age-appropriate books to families who have none. This donation will help to bring more supplies to the First Book Marketplace, including a section of free resources created by First Book to help support educators and their classrooms, and so much more! To date, we have distributed more than 225 million books and resources.

Some recent highlights from the Marketplace include our 2022-2023 Diversity and Inclusion calendar to help celebrate diversity in your classroom as well as The Best New Books of 2022, a booklist to bring new and exciting books to your classroom! This donation enables First Book to continue our work toward classrooms being stocked full of the resources students and their teachers need to succeed this school year. Most importantly, this generosity bestows a love of reading, the fuel for the imagination, and the ability for families to bond together.
