First Book Resource: Diversity & Inclusion Cultural Calendar

Kids learn better when they feel safe and supported. At First Book, our focus is on making all kids feel welcome wherever they are. That’s one reason why we created The 2022 – 2023 School Year Calendar Celebrating Culture, Diversity & Inclusion. This free tool was designed to help educators celebrate their students each day.

Inclusive communities start with windows and mirrors moments. That is why our calendar is designed to reflect an increasingly diverse student body. It includes month-long observances, religious observances, and dates of cultural or historical significance. There are also suggestions on activities to celebrate these dates with your class!

Being culturally competent—having the ability to successfully teach students who come from cultures other than one’s own—is critical to the success of our increasingly diverse student population and society.
