First Book is celebrating 25 years of bringing books and resources to kids in need!

From a simple effort that began in 1992 with a handful of books and some spare time, we have grown into a social enterprise that has distributed more than 160 million books in nearly 30 countries, operates full-time in the United States and Canada and reaches an average of 3 million children every year. The First Book network of educators now numbers more than 325,000 — with 1,000 additional educators joining every week — meaning that First Book now supports one in four of the estimated 1.3 million classrooms and programs in the U.S. serving children in need.

We have been generously honored with awards for our social enterprise model, our contributions to the publishing industry, and our efforts to spread the joy of reading –but our greatest honor has been working with those of you who have made these 25 years of success possible.
