Help First Book Distribute Books for National Day of Service

First Book is honored to participate in the Presidential Inauguration Committee’s National Day of Service on Monday, January 18, 2021. Join us in our celebration of the 46th President with free books, author readings, and more.

Fill Out a Form, Give a Free Book

Throughout the day, First Book will ask volunteers to fill out an online form to provide us with contact information for local educators and programs serving children in need, so that those child advocates, practitioners, and programs can get access to free and low cost books and educational resources for the children they serve for years to come. Each form submitted will unlock a Stories for All Project™ book to a child in a low-income community that has been heavily impacted by COVID-19 – made possible by First Book, our generous funders, and publishing partners. Through this National Day of Service, First Book and its partners will distribute up to 46,000 Stories for All Project™ books, giving children access to stories that allow them to see their own experience reflected in books or to learn about experiences different from their own. 46,000 books in honor of the 46th President.

Live Author Readings

Please join us for two live, virtual events for our volunteers to learn more about First Book and how you can help. Both events will feature a reading and Q&A session from an award-winning Stories for All Project™ author, so that volunteers can see firsthand and understand the importance of getting books to children that feature diverse characters, cultures, and stories.
