Summer Learning Resources

We here at First Book want to help keep kids healthy, safe, and learning all summer long, so we have compiled a list of our resources for educators to ensure success for the school year ahead.

Here’s our list of the top 4 resources educators and caregivers can provide for a smarter summer:

1. Books!
We love summer reading! There’s nothing like relaxing in the sunshine with a good book. Summer program managers within the First Book community use books in their programming to have on-site for pleasure reading, to send home with the kids they serve, to incentivize kids and family participation, and to support summer instruction.

2. Games and activities
Play is a powerful learning tool! Games encourage strategic thinking and gives kids the opportunity to practice teamwork as well as concepts they have learned. Puzzles, for example, support fine motor skills, logical thinking, and social and emotional learning. STEM kits help kids discover new concepts. Summer is a great time for kids to immerse themselves in learning, and have fun at the same time!

3. Snack items
When you’re hungry, it’s hard to focus on anything else. 73% of Summertime Program Members are providing kids with meals this summer, and we’re proud to provide them with delicious bite-sized snacks to help fuel their kids’ daily activities.
